Over the years I have made annual trips to the Bonneville Salt Flats to photograph the legendary speed runs held on this historic course.
In September the USFRA [Utah Salt Flats Racing Assoc.] host a LSR meet. A fun well run event bring participants from around the country and World.
Motorcycles, Hot Rods, Stock cars and those Streamliners stage in line to make their measured runs, to beak a record- to see how fast they can go!
My fascination with this remarkable venue extends beyond the track and the people who compete there.
I was the kid who eagerly awaited “his latest” copy of HOT ROD, CAR & TRACK among others - thumbing thru the pages. A centerfold for me at that age was a Gas Anglia, A Custom Merc - hanging on my wall.
A distant land of sun and speed it seemed with cars and the names that were and are legends. ‘True Hot Rod builders’ working in backyard garages to professionally equipped corporate teams.
All pursuing speed on one of the world's most iconic racing surfaces lined up for a run – and there I am with camera in hand.
